In the New Testement, there is not even a single person that becomes rich or wealthy after following Jesus, but there are so many people that became poor and lost almost everything (wordly) after following Jesus.
God can give wealth to you from the world, not to save or store but to distribute. If you are not distributing or sharing it, you are violating the one commandment, "Love your neighbour as yourself." In another words god can let you get wealth, but it doesnt mean he will make you rich. ( When you give your wealth to your neighbour, your wealth is taken away from you.)
When Peter asked, "What will I get when I follow you?", Jesus said, "
Matthew 19:27-28 (New International Version, ©2011) 27 Peter answered him, “We have left everything to follow you! What then will there be for us?” 28 Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. _________________ A lot of people say that Abraham was blessed materially by God, but stephen says in spirit that Abraham was not given a single feet of land. Acts 7:5 (English Standard Version)_________________________________ When a young man asked Jesus what he should do to get eternal life, Jesus replied- Matthew 19:21 (English Standard Version)____________________________________ mathew 6:20 ) but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. ____________________________________________ Being rich is a sin. In the parable of "Rich man and Lazarus", the only sin we see in the rich man, was that he was rich. It is right according to Jesus' words too. Luke 16:25 (English Standard Version)25But Abraham said, 'Child, remember that(A) you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish. Luke 6:24-26 (English Standard Version)Jesus Pronounces Woes24(A) "But woe to you who are rich,(B) for you(C) have received your consolation. 25"Woe to you who are full now, for(D) you shall be hungry. Matthew 6:24 (English Standard Version) 24(A) "No one can serve two masters , for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and(B) money.[a] ______________________________ It is Impossible to become a rich christian. Matthew 19:24 (English Standard Version) 24(A) Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter(B) the kingdom of God." _____________________________________ Mark 10:21 (English Standard Version)21And Jesus,(A) looking at him,(B) loved him, and said to him, "You lack one thing: go,(C) sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have(D) treasure in heaven; and come, follow me." ___________________________________________ On the third test, Satan claims that all the world and its glory belongs to him. Jesus is not denying the fact. Matthew 4:8-9 (English Standard Version)8(A) Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 9And he said to him, "All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me." ______________________________________________ Matthew 13:22 (English Standard Version)______________________________________________ 1 John 4:5 (English Standard Version)5(A) They are from the world; therefore they speak from the world, and(B) the world listens to them. _____________________________________ A lot of people show Solomon as an example of a righteous rich man, but according to Jesus' eyes he is not even worth the price of a Lily in a field. David also fell when he was rich.
